Prithviraj Sukumaran disclosed that he initially approached Mammootty for the lead role in his 2022 film ‘Bro Daddy.’ He envisioned Mammootty as an affluent yet grounded Christian family man, inspired by a Kottayam Kunjachan character. Although interested, Mammootty couldn’t commit immediately, prompting Prithviraj to cast Mohanlal instead. Prithviraj felt Mammootty would be perfect for the romantic, lighthearted role. The two actors have previously worked together in several films. Speculation is that Mammootty might play a cameo in Prithviraj’s upcoming project ‘L2: Empuraan.’
