| This circular highlights the need of BSIDs for various DG Shipping related jobs like: a) Issuance of Renewal/Duplicate/Replacement of CDCs; b) Issuance/Revalidation of all CoCs & Cops. c) Admission to all Competency, Simulator & Modular Courses except Basic Safety Training (BST), Security Training for Seafarer with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD) which are required for issuance of CDC and BSID as per Circular 23 of 2022. The deadline of 31/07/2023 was issued to have BSID as a compulsory requirement for Renewal/Duplicate/Replacement of CDCs. First time candidates going for GMDSS (GOC & ROC) Courses and Canditates going for Vertical Integration Course for Trainers (VICT), Train the Simulator Trainer and Assessor (TSTA) and Certificate of Seafarers (AECS) Courses DO NOT REQUIRE BSIDs. |

| Important points |
| The circular is in effect with immediate effect until further notices arrives. Though All the MTIs, RpS/Shipping Companies, Unions, Stakeholder and the Allied office of the Directorate, are requested to promote, encourage and advise seafarers to obtain BSIDs. |
