Monsoon covers entire India, reaches remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab

The southwest monsoon has now covered all of India, arriving one day behind schedule. Early July has recorded surplus rainfall, which is a positive development. This follows a significant rainfall deficit experienced across the country during the month of June. El Niño conditions are cited as a primary reason for the overall rainfall deficit. Seasonal monsoon rainfall is forecast to be ninety percent of the long-period average.
