A landlord company in County Durham has been fined £42,500 after tenants were found living in unsafe conditions, including sleeping among dead rats, mice, human waste and urine. The court heard the firm failed to carry out required property inspections and maintain valid gas safety certificates across several rental homes, prompting legal action by Durham County Council.
