Canadian couple donate 187-acre Ontario island sanctuary after protecting its wildlife for 36 years

Jim and Anne Purvis bought 187.4 acres on Ontario’s Wilson Island in 1989 and spent 36 years protecting the land as a family sanctuary. They have now donated the property to the Northumberland Land Trust, ensuring its forests, wetlands, grasslands and habitats for species at risk remain protected as a permanent nature reserve.
