Researchers developed a starch-based wash to remove pesticide residues from fruits and vegetables. This innovative treatment also helps preserve produce quality during storage for up to fifteen days. The wash effectively removes over ninety-three percent of certain pesticide residues from produce surfaces. Computer simulations revealed molecular attractions which helped the material bind with pesticides. This sustainable and biodegradable wash offers improved food safety and reduced waste.
