Nag Ashwin’s mythological sci-fi film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has been a significant success, grossing over Rs 1000 crore. The film explores themes from Indian mythology and depicts a dystopian future set in 2898 AD. Following its success, the director believes there is substantial unexplored potential in this genre. Regular shooting for the sequel, ‘Kalki 2898 AD Part 2’, is scheduled to begin in October 2026.
