Up to 1,000 African savanna elephants move through Tanzania’s Udzungwa Mountains and surrounding habitats, with some climbing slopes above 6,500 feet. A newly protected 14-kilometre wildlife corridor across the Kilombero Valley reconnects their historic range. Camera traps recorded 529 elephants among 1,440 mammals using the corridor during 15 months of monitoring.
