UK collector’s £15 teapot sold for £575,000 after experts identified rare Bartlam piece

A broken teapot bought for £15 at a 2016 auction was identified as a rare piece made by John Bartlam in South Carolina in the 1760s. It later sold for £460,000 at auction, reaching £575,000 with the buyer’s premium, and was acquired by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
