The religiously unaffiliated global population has increased from 23.3 % to 24.2 % between 2010 and 2020, as per data from the Pew Research Centre, but the decrease may be more in Western and European countries than in India. Moreover, religiosity, as depicted through religions ceremonies, rallies, arranging public dining (Bhandraas/Lungars/Mawaid) and undertaking religion-related practices like Kanwar/jalabhishek-Yatras, , Tazias/Juloos, Nagar-Kirtan, etc have grown rapidly in India which may be a challenge for the country in the long-run.
