Assam relaxes 2-child norm for vulnerable communities

Assam’s government has relaxed its two-child norm for tribal groups, tea garden workers, and the Moran and Mottock communities. This policy shift aims to prevent these micro communities from becoming minorities or vanishing within 50 years. The exemption allows members of these four groups to have more than two children without facing restrictions on government jobs or panchayat polls.
