Guwahati’s ambitious Rs 80 crore Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) project, launched in 2022, has faltered due to a lack of prior scientific traffic flow studies. Intended to deploy high-tech signals and AI cameras, the project is incomplete, with many signals still manually operated and some cameras non-functional, failing to address the city’s growing vehicular congestion.
