MMRDA has initiated the erection of precast segments for the Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension project. The six-lane corridor will connect Anand Nagar in Thane with Chheda Nagar in Ghatkopar. A mechanised gantry is being used to minimize traffic disruptions during construction. The project aims to reduce travel time between Thane and Mumbai to approximately 20-25 minutes. Completion is expected to ease congestion on the Eastern Express Highway significantly.
