MLB introduced the Automated Ball-Strike System (ABS) in 2025 spring training to improve umpire accuracy and reduce human error. The system combines Hawk-Eye technology with human umpiring, allowing players to challenge calls. If successful, the ABS may be adopted in regular games by 2026.
