22 homes on Minneapolis’ Nicollet Island were put on the market without residents wanting to sell; they have now formed a cooperative to buy the houses together

Residents of Nicollet Island are taking a united stand to purchase their cherished homes currently up for sale by TCHDC, due to financial strains affecting the nonprofit’s ability to manage the properties. To safeguard affordable housing and the community’s continuity, the Nicollet Island Cooperative has emerged. They are working alongside Land Bank Twin Cities to establish a buy-back arrangement, ensuring a stable future while negotiations with the property managers continue.
