Guwahati is implementing a Rs 177 crore Intelligent City Surveillance System (ICSS) to address traffic congestion and crowd management, following the unsuccessful Rs 80 crore Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS). The ICSS project involves installing 2,000 CCTV cameras, an Integrated Command and Control Centre, public announcement systems, and emergency call boxes across the city, with locations identified by Assam Police.
