Following a devastating fire in 2016 that impacted Strawberry Creek, Great Basin National Park staff noticed signs of beaver activity prompting restoration initiatives in 2021. By constructing artificial dams, the project significantly enhanced the creek’s ecosystem and led to a remarkable increase in trout populations. In 2024, a beaver was spotted for the first time in nearly two decades, symbolizing nature’s resilience and recovery after human efforts.
