India booked their place in the men’s hockey semifinals at the Asian Games after beating hosts Japan 2-0 in a closely fought Pool A match on Saturday. Abhishek opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a field goal, before captain Harmanpreet Singh doubled India’s lead in the 40th minute with a penalty-corner conversion.
