The Bombay High Court has upheld the life sentence for Sajjad Mughal, convicted of murdering lawyer Pallavi Purkayastha in 2012. The court confirmed the sentence means for the remainder of his natural life. The victim’s father had sought the death penalty, arguing the crime was heinous. Mughal had previously absconded while on parole.
