Divya Deshmukh was named Best Chess Player (Female) at the inaugural FIDE Excellence Awards as India completed a hat-trick of Nona Gaprindashvili Trophy victories at the Samarkand Olympiad. India also won Open silver, Women’s bronze and six individual medals. AICF President Nitin Narang hailed the achievement and highlighted India’s growing strength across the global chess ecosystem.
