Five young orangutans were discovered abandoned in Odisha’s Balasore district forest area. These animals, not native to India, were found during a routine forest patrol. Officials suspect the orangutans were part of a botched illegal smuggling transit operation. The rescued animals underwent medical checks and are now at Nandankanan Zoological Park. Investigations are ongoing to determine their entry point and responsible parties.
