Gomti likely to start receding in Lucknow as upstream floodwaters ease after 10-day journey

Water levels in the Gomti river are beginning to recede after nearly two weeks of flooding. Officials report that upstream inflows have weakened, leading to a reduction in river levels. Flooding occurred despite the river carrying much less water than during historical floods. Residential colonies and inadequate drainage systems have contributed to prolonged waterlogging in some areas.
