Hungary’s former PM Orban retains grip on Fidesz after election setback

Viktor Orban has once again claimed leadership of the Fidesz party, following a disappointing loss that marked the end of his lengthy 16-year reign in Hungary. With overwhelming support from delegates, Orban pledged to forge a stronger, more dynamic opposition in the wake of Prime Minister Peter Magyar’s pro-Western Tisza party taking the helm.
