In 1971, a hijacker vanished with $200,000; in 1980, an 8-year-old found part of the ransom on a Washington riverbank, and a damaged $20 note from the discovery sold for $134,200 at auction in 2026

A fragment of a D.B. Cooper hijacking banknote fetched an impressive $134,200 at a Dallas auction. This particular note was part of the $200,000 ransom paid to the infamous hijacker back in 1971. Interestingly, in 1980, a young boy came across a piece of this ransom money at Tena Bar, which was later confirmed as authentic by the FBI.
