In 2015, a Georgia crash injured an Uber driver who later sued Snapchat over its speed filter; a decade later, Snap settles even after CEO Evan Spiegel defended the feature under oath

Snap has resolved a lawsuit related to Snapchat’s speed filter by agreeing to a confidential settlement this October. The lawsuit was initiated after a severe crash in 2015 that left Uber driver Wentworth Maynard with serious injuries. Christal McGee, the other driver, allegedly attempted to use Snapchat’s filter while driving fast. Snap defended the filter’s design and claimed it was not in use during the incident.
