Dharwad Rural MLA Vinay Kulkarni received a life sentence for the 2016 murder of BJP worker Yogesh Gowda. A special court found Kulkarni and 16 others guilty of plotting the assassination. The court also ordered Kulkarni to pay compensation to Gowda’s children. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar called it a political conspiracy and expressed faith in higher courts for justice.
