Kolkata police deployed riot shields and helmets to protect an arrested Trinamool Congress councillor from egg-throwing protesters. This new form of protest, dubbed “dim-ocracy,” targets Trinamool leaders facing corruption and extortion charges. Several councillors from Kolkata and Bidhannagar Municipal Corporations are currently in custody.
