‘Self-appointed protector’: BJP questions Cong’s silence on Tejpal rape conviction

The Bharatiya Janata Party has questioned why the Congress party remains tight-lipped about the recent conviction of Tarun Tejpal. The former Tehelka editor-in-chief received a ten-year prison sentence for sexual assault from 2013. BJP officials allege that Tejpal has ties to the Congress party during the UPA regime. Following this, the Bombay High Court reversed a lower court’s decision, calling it ‘perverse’.
