Texas woman left 6 acres in 1916; her governor son added 250 acres to create its first park

Isabella Neff’s generous donation of six acres to the Leon River marked the beginning of Texas’ first state park. Her son, Pat Neff, significantly augmented this by contributing an additional 250 acres. Developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park faced challenges from flooding, necessitating ongoing repairs. Today, Mother Neff State Park is a shining example of familial generosity and commitment to preservation.
