Twenty-four-year-old Rachel Apa died after collapsing near the finish line of the 2026 New York City Marathon. The former Bucknell field hockey player was running her first marathon to raise money for Parkinson’s research in memory of her grandfather. Despite receiving emergency medical care, she could not be saved. Her father attributed her death to rhabdomyolysis.
