Former Olympic sprinter Beth Dobbin, 32, now spends over 22 hours daily in bed battling myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), a debilitating condition that has severely restricted her independence. Following Covid and glandular fever infections in 2021–22, her health deteriorated dramatically. Despite limited specialist support and no known cure, Dobbin is speaking publicly to raise awareness, even risking months-long setbacks. Her sister is running the Yorkshire Marathon to support ME research.
