Zoho Chief Scientist Sridhar Vembu has said the company will withhold its usual salary increases this year as AI expenses rise and server prices increase fourfold. He cited an uncertain software business outlook and geopolitical challenges, adding that Zoho had not expanded its workforce for 18 months. Vembu said the company would work to avoid mass layoffs while reinventing itself over the next three to five years. Separately, he criticised universal basic income amid concerns about AI-driven job displacement.
